My Journey of the Heart

Inner work may be self-driven, but you don't have to do it alone.

A WORD FROM THE HEART

Christina is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Founder of Journey of the Heart

with expertise in treating issues such as substance abuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief & loss, self-worth and life transitions.

She has studied both Neuroscience and Psychology at Florida Atlantic University and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Most recently, Christina worked alongside law enforcement in Palm Beach County, helping to identify and restore victims of human trafficking and other crimes in her role as Anti-Human Trafficking Program Administrator for Catholic Charities.

In addition to helping victims heal from past experiences, she learned the ways that traffickers and other predators target and groom their victims. Christina observed what makes young men and women vulnerable to sexual abuse and exploitation, which inspired her to develop a program to teach young adults skills to protect them from the manipulation and exploitation of others.

We are most effective in achieving our goals when our thoughts, emotions, and intentions are aligned. To accomplish this Christina uses both CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) to create balance between thought and emotion. We all have core experiences that can impact our thoughts and emotions as well. These experiences are stored in a deeper part of the brain and are most effectively surfaced through EMDR. Christina is EMDR certified and has seen tremendous healing in utilizing this technique to treat more painful experiences.

These tools coupled with a compassionate and safe environment provide the necessary ingredients for healing and growth.
